Oh, Tina, you must be worried sick. I know it's easy to say, but try not to worry too much, if it had been anything really, really serious they would be doing something about it already, not just taking more blood. I don't know anything about it really, so I'm no help, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to give you some comforting words. I just don't like to think of you being so worried, but I can't blame you, I know I'd be the same Anthea x

Hi Tina,
Stop worrying!! Dan's liver enzymes are raise, something which happens to lots of us on mtx. I would have thought at that level they would have asked him to stop the mtx till he has had it checked again, but hospitals do seem to vary at which level they will allow it to go to. Ring his nurse tomorrow if you can and ask her if he should stop the mtx or carry on. It will probably only be temporary to allow the level to go back to normal. I have had to stop it before for this reason but only for a couple of weeks and then I've been able to go back on it. I hope all this makes sense, I'm not too good at explaining! Don't worry about it though, the liver is excellent at reversing any damage done with the drugs.
Love and hugs, Doreen xx

Hi Tina
First of all - DON'T PANIC! Dan is on methotrexate and this can, from time to time, affect the liver levels. It has happened to me several times, and I think lots of people on mtx experience this from time to time. Although his levels are raised, they are not desperately high.
I'm not a doc, so can't advise, but I do think you need to speak to Dan's consultant tomorrow and ask if he should come off the mtx for the time being until the levels go back to normal. The good thing is that when people come off the mtx, the liver usually puts itself right very quickly and then you can start on the meds again. If you can't get an sense out of anyone, ring the NRAS helpline. I feel that you will be told to stop the meds until his next blood test and then see how things are. It really is vitally important you get some advice on this.
I know it's easy for me to say don't panic, but as it's happened to me several times, I know how these levels can go up and down very quickly.
Lots of love Jeanxxxxxx

Was that test 3 months ago Tina? It's quite possible that it has gone down by now but you are right to want it checking as soon as possible. I have mine done at the GPs surgery which means that the GP checks them as well as the rheumy team.

Hi Tina
I think you're right to speak to someone about this, but this does happen very often with lots of people, me included, on here. The liver levels usually go back down after stopping MTX.
I know I would be just as worried if it was my child, it's just a normal part of being a parent.
